HeroPreneur National Veteran Business Summit powered by HeroZona is a multi-day experience celebrating & empowering American Veterans. The inaugural HeroPreneur conference will take place November 14 through November 16 in Arizona, where there are over 1,000 veteran owned businesses, at the Phoenix Convention Center.

The series of experiences will have a pre-kickoff celebration at the NASCAR Can-Am 500 Semifinals weekend taking place Nov 9 – 11 at the ISM Raceway in Avondale just outside of Phoenix, followed by the 22nd annual Phoenix Veterans Day Parade which will take place Nov. 12.

HeroPreneur National Veteran Business Summit was created to continue empowering these heroes. This three-day event focuses on Veteran Supplier Diversity and provides Veteran Business Enterprises (VBE) corporations with Supplier Diversity programs including the opportunity to network, connect and learn. No matter if you are a start-up business or a large well-established corporation, this conference has something for everyone that supports Veteran Supplier Diversity. This year we are honored to host, celebrity Keynote Speaker and entrepreneur extraordinaire Daymond John from ABC’s Shark Tank.

In addition to the conference we also will be having the HeroPreneur Awards, celebrating and honoring individuals and organizations that support the Veteran community. The awards show will be hosted by comedian Bill Bellamy.

What is a HeroPreneur?

After serving in the U.S. military and protecting our great country, many veterans successfully transitioned the skills and values learned during their time in service into owning and operating their own businesses or enterprises. These Heroes, these HeroPreneurs, went from serving the country as a whole to serving, enriching, and adding tremendous value to the communities they returned home to.

Arizona Department of Veteran Services – The Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services (ADVS) provides direct services to Veterans through the administration of 19 Veterans Benefits Offices throughout the state – helping Veterans connect with their VA benefits.

In addition, the Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services provides critical, state-wide coordination and technical assistance to services and organizations serving Veterans. This includes activities such as coordinating services across private and public sectors in serving targeted populations such as Veterans experiencing homelessness, and special needs for the growing population of Women Veterans – many of whom are at-risk, as well as building community capacity to address Veteran employment and higher education.

AZ Million Dollar Circle of Excellence – The Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce launched the AZ Million Dollar Circle of Excellence (AZ MDCE) during its 2012 Business Enterprise Summit.

The AZ MDCE recognizes companies leading the way in supplier diversity by spending more than $1 million annually (Tier 1) with Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprises (M/WBE’s) in Arizona. This initiative is modeled after the globally-renowned Billion Dollar Roundtable.

The AZHCC created the AZ MDCE in collaboration with several distinguished community partners: Greater Phoenix Black Chamber of Commerce, The American Indian Chamber of Commerce of Arizona, Associated Minority Contractors of America, Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Arizona, Pacific Southwest Minority Supplier Diversity Council, Asian Chamber of Commerce, Women’s Business Enterprise Council-West, and the Phoenix MBDA Business Center.

Bunker Labs – Bunker Labs is a national not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization built by military veteran entrepreneurs to empower other military veterans as leaders in innovation.

Through local chapters across the U.S., Bunker Labs provides educational programming, access to resources, and a thriving local network to help military veterans and their spouses start and grow businesses.

We work to Inspire, Educate, and Connect veterans with the right resources and people locally to be successful, while also providing national tools and resources like: Launch Lab Online or our Community Mobile App to support aspiring entrepreneurs where ever they may currently live or be stationed.

National Veteran Business Development Council – The National Veteran Business Development Council is the only third party Veteran Owned Business Certification program in the United States and is organized as a 501c3 not for profit foundation.

The NVBDC was created for the purpose of providing a credible and reliable certifying authority that would ensure that valid documentation exists of a business’ Veteran ownership and control.

Many lucrative businesses opportunities are available to Veteran Owned Businesses through the Supplier Diversity programs offered at many companies and government agencies. In fact, the total spend available to qualifying businesses is estimated to be in excess of $80 Billion annually.

Nielsen – Nielsen’s Corporate Supplier Diversity program is committed to increasing our company’s use of services and products provided by certified diverse-owned businesses. This is critical to the overall success of our procurement practices and our role as a corporate citizen. Our initiatives integrate best practices established by supplier diversity advocate organizations and incorporate cost leadership, revenue growth and efforts to foster sustainable diverse spend opportunities throughout the purchasing culture of our company. We expect that that any supplier within our supply chain will provide us with innovative business solutions, continuous process improvements and best-in-class delivery.

VetFran – VetFran member companies have grown into a large network of over 650 franchise brands that voluntarily offer financial discounts, mentor-ship, and training for aspiring veteran franchisees and veterans seeking employment. VetFran’s most recent survey shows that over 238,000 veterans and military spouses found opportunities in the franchise industry as either employees or franchise owners.

There are over 6,500 veterans that have become franchise business owners since 2011.

The franchise business model provides comprehensive training opportunities, scalability, and the need for operational execution and excellence, offering an ideal career path to enable veterans to become productive participants in the U.S. economy. VetFran supports veterans and their spouses’ ability to access franchise opportunities through education on the franchise industry, financial assistance, and industry mentor-ship.

Skillbridge – SkillBridge is a Department of Defense authorized program that allows service members who are within six months of separation from the military to complete internships and pre-apprenticeships with approved civilian employers prior to transitioning out of the military. There is no cost to employers to participate.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit these organization’s veteran’s programs:
Checkered Flag Run Foundation, Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services, Honoring Arizona’s Veterans and the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
